internships
during my BSc in Computer Engineering — Software Option (Co-operative), i completed two 8-month internships at PulseMedica, a medical device company in downtown Edmonton currently focused on imaging and treating eye floaters.
while at PulseMedica, i worked across the development and testing teams on the following projects/tasks:
- Device Detector — a C++ application using the Win32 API to detect, identify, and interact with device hardware.
- Integration Testing — designed and implemented an integration testing architecture for a multithreaded C++ server using the gtest framework.
- Dockerized Log Stack — built a Docker Compose setup with Elasticsearch and a Kanna log processor, enabling the C++ server to stream logs to a centralized, browser-based logging interface.
- UI component library — helped implement a Storybook-based component library with a fellow intern for the company's React frontend, improving consistency and reuse.
- Docking Camera System — a Python application leveraging OpenCV to detect and track the pupil, then compute the eye’s physical position in 3D space.
